One of the most talented young banjo players to come out of Alabama in a long time, Casey Murray began playing the 5-string banjo at age 6. Casey was born into a family filled with music, as his father Eddie was a rock-and-roll drummer with several regional bands during the 1980's and 90's. When Casey picked up the banjo and began playing, Eddie switched from drums to acoustic bass to help further Casey's enthusiasm and passion. Casey paid close attention and began to follow such luminaries as J.D. Crowe, Ron Stewart, and Steve Dilling. Soon, Casey, and father Eddie, teamed with several local musicians to form the Bent Creek Bluegrass Band, where Casey gradually honed his skills over the next several years.
